Artwork Goals
Design Alignment
- Utilize durable materials that are resistant to outdoor elements, such as steel,
wood, and stone to achieve a natural, yet industrial, aesthetic. - Reflect the sleek lines and the timeless style of the property.
- Create a piece that celebrates the vibrancy of the local art scene, while engaging
the broader community. - Create a work that acknowledges where we are, at the confluence of U.S. history, nature and community. Georgetown is just steps away, with the C & O Canal, the Potomac River, and Rock Creek Park (our nation’s third National Park) right outside The Fitzgerald’s front doors.
Community Engagement
- Enhance the neighborhood’s sense of place, connection and community.
- Share the artistic process with the community by documenting each step – from conceptualization to fabrication and installation – through still photographs and video. The documentation is the artist’s responsibility; artists will be asked to prepare and share footage along with the delivery of their work.
