K/NOW DEMOCRACY DIALOGUE
AUTOCRACY in the Americas WITH MARI CARMEN APONTE
thursday, JULY 17TH | 6pm - 7:30pm
7920 NOrFolk Avenue, Bethesda, Maryland 20814
Join us for a conversation with one of the world’s most important voices on Latin America, Mari Carmen Aponte.
Ambassador Aponte recently returned from Panama as US Ambassador during the Biden administration, following her service as US Ambassador to El Salvador. She is the first Puerto Rican woman to hold the title of ambassador.
A specialist on gangs, violence, illegal narcotics trafficking, treaties, trade and regional diplomacy, she will address the surge of autocracy in the Americas.
Part of the Democracy at Risk Dialogue series, this conversation dovetails with our ongoing “Art and Autocracy in Americas” exhibition.
